A system with a high throughput and compact design

Decathlon planned to expand its e-commerce division. The aim was to find a system with a compact design and high throughput that could be integrated into the existing building.

Solution

Decathlon has chosen the EcoPocket system. The facility extends over 2 halls. Hall 1 houses the 8 induct and 23 packing stations, while the run buffers, the sequence sorter and the empty pocket buffers are located in Hall 2, distributed over 3 levels, away from the workplaces. With more than 70 different categories of sports on offer, the range of articles is accordingly large, so that many non-fashion items such as small rucksacks or carton packed camping articles are processed in the pocket, with a large number of individual articles being identified via RFID.

DECATHLON offers more than 35,000 items in over 70 different sports. Michel Leclercq opened his first sports equipment store near Lille on July 27, 1976, thereby founding the DECATHLON company. In 1986 began the production of sporting goods under its own name. In 2016, there were 1,065 stores in 29 countries. EcoPocket system

This system is based on the roll adapter, which is expanded by a special product carrier - the EcoPocket. In combination with the roll adapter, the system is even able to sort items such as shoes, books and bagged textiles, actually all items that fit in a conventional shopping bag. This combination made it possible for the first time to transport and sort hanging and flat goods in one single system, which is an interesting solution for e-commerce in particular
